A brand-new club on ground that was made for it — a natural valley for the range, timber out back, and a standard of conduct we are not willing to lower.
Our Mission
A private place to practice a public responsibility.
Back40 Sportsman’s Club exists to give responsible shooters and hunters somewhere to develop real skill — not a lane rented by the half hour, but a property they help maintain and are trusted to use unsupervised.
That trust runs in both directions. We give members a gate code and round-the-clock access. In return, members follow the rules whether anyone is watching or not, pick up their brass, report what they harvest honestly, and show up when there is work to do.
We would rather be a small club full of the right people than a large one that has to police itself. Every decision we make about growth comes back to that.
Membership Philosophy
Private, vetted, safety-first
Four commitments that shape who joins this club and how the property is run.
Safety is not negotiable
Every member completes a rules and safety orientation before receiving a gate credential. One serious violation ends a membership — no committee, no appeal, no exceptions.
Vetted, not sold
Membership is an application, not a transaction. We verify identity, check references where warranted, and reserve the right to decline for any lawful reason.
Stewardship over harvest
The timber and food plots are managed on a long horizon. Harvest is capped at one buck and one doe per person each season, and antler restrictions and rest periods are set annually and enforced honestly.
A club, built by members
Dues pay for berms, gravel, mowers, and targets. Every member is expected at one work day a year — the labor members put in is labor the club doesn't have to hire out, which is a large part of why annual dues stay where they are.

Back40 Sportsman's Club opens its gates
Aaron Rochon turns 60 acres of Ray County timber into a private range and hunting club — an eight-bench rifle and pistol line, an archery range, a clubhouse under renovation, and gate access for members. The aim: a safe, controlled environment and a real sense of community for like-minded people who share a passion for the outdoors.

The people who run the club
Aaron Rochon
Founder and Club President
Eagle Scout, outdoorsman, rifle enthusiast, and lifelong whitetail hunter. Aaron founded Back40 Sportsman's Club to bring together people who share a passion for the outdoors, responsible firearm ownership, conservation, and the camaraderie that comes with the sporting lifestyle.
Mandy Rochon
Member Support and Hospitality
Mandy helped shape the heart of Back40 Sportsman's Club. Her passion for animals, hospitality, and her unwavering support of Aaron's vision—have made the club a welcoming destination for members and guests alike.
Brew
Club Mascot
The miniature Highland bull with a big personality, Brew spends his days inspecting the property, greeting guests, and accepting payment in the form of treats. His qualifications include looking handsome, photobombing pictures, and reminding everyone that he's actually in charge.
